How expensive Video Production should really be?
How expensive Video Production should really be? What Price should I pay?

During this credit crunch period I am sure everyone are trying to save on budgets and are looking into effective cost saving solutions. I think the same should and will happen in Video Production Industry.

When it comes to Video Production – your costs can be anything from £300 – £ 5000000 (yes, that much!) per 1min video Track. Now, in reality let’s brake down the cost and see what you should really be spending and what are you getting for your money?

If you require a high quality HD Broadcast Level, High End Commercial and are ready to spend couple of millions on it, then this article is definitely not for you!

If you are a small company that requires an attractive video to add on to your website or play on a loop on your plasma screen inside the reception, then please continue on reading.

Let’s say you need 2 min promotional video for your company with some motion graphics, music, filmed footage and special effects? Sounds expensive? Well it doesn’t have to:

This is what your budget can be:

1) 1 day filming at your office - £325 (That is using standard definition pro level camera, which is more then enough for your needs at this point) Just to get some nice general shots of your company for later editing.

2) Video Motion Graphics Effects - £350-£400. You don’t have to spend thousands and design everything from scratch. There numerous pre-build motion graphics effect that can be simply customized to fit your needs.
3) Final Video Editing and DVD Authoring - £300 (which is a day cost for a professional video editing) Simply put the footage together, add pre-created motion graphics video, mix with some nice photos, graphics, music and other media and you have a final product in a form of a very attractive corporate showreel that didn’t cost you a fortune!

At the end of the day, price should meet your requirements. If you are after an attractive but simple video, you really don’t have to spend thousands on it!
